Durarara! (TV, 2010)

Overview

Every great relationship needs its glue to hold it together. I was actually looking forward to the Winter 2009 season before it started. Omamori Himari, Ookamikakushi, and Dance in the Vampire Bund all looked like likely targets for watching, and there was Halo Legends and the anime adaptation of the game adaptation of Dante's Inferno to look forward to as well. All in all, things were shaping up pretty well; I just needed one more title to round out my list of series. I settled on an oddly named series that looked to have pretty good animation from its promo video called Durarara!!.

Angel Beats (TV, 2010)

Y'know, when you start seeing chibis of yourself fighting over the food, it might be time to get a new fridge. A few years ago, I entered the world of Key storytelling through a door named Clannad. An anime series based on a visual novel of the same name, it told the story of Tomoya Ozaki, a boy on the verge of adulthood who was looking forward to his senior year of high school as a well-known delinquent. Not a bad kid, Tomoya, though certainly he'd gotten into his fair share of trouble, often alongside his best friend Sunohara. There was something… uncertain about Tomoya, tenuous, as though he wasn't quite certain what to do with himself. At least, not until he met a girl about his age at the base of the hill leading up to the school, heard her ask a question to nobody in particular, and decided to answer her. It's funny how so small, so simple an exchange can be the difference in everything – and it's a concept that Key excels at exploring, so when I heard that the next Key series was going to be one more fantasy flavored, I noted the name – Angel Beats – down on my to watch list.

Splinter Cell: Conviction (PC, 2010)

Let me start this off by admitting that all in all, major stealth games are generally not my cup of tea. It's not that I can't play through a game stealthily – quite the opposite, I usually take every chance I can to avoid/eliminate an opponent from as far away as possible, and there's a reason that nine times out of ten, the sniper rifle is my preferred weapon. There's a difference, though, between that, and a 'major' stealth game, that being that in a 'major' stealth game the goal isn't so much to eliminate your enemies as it is to complete your objectives without alerting the entire world to your presence. That's something difficult to do when you bang down the door and start spraying the enemy contingent with pulse rifle fire. So, with that in mind, I decided to take a look at Splinter Cell: Conviction after playing through the demo and being pleasantly surprised by it.

Lucky Star (Anime,2007)

Overview

Lucky Star is a manga and anime series which focuses on the lives of several girls who live in Kasukabe in Saitama Prefecture of Japan and attend a High School called Ryoo. The story typically focuses on its main character Konata Izumi as she interacts with her friends, making observations and conversation about their various interests, each other, and the world around them. Given that Kontata is what can only be classified as an Otaku Surrogate and a not so closet a pervert, these activities, conversations, and observations can get really fun indeed.
