Transformers: Devastation Review Up

Hmm...Transformers: Devastation. We've always wanted a G1 sytle game on a current platform. Correction: A GOOD G1 style game. I suppose it was too much to hope for that High Moon would be tapped for it, as this almost gets into the area of good, but with some major flaws, it falls short of the G1 game we always wanted. Why not check it out in the review for the more indepth report?

Transformers - Fall of Cybertron Review Up

We're not dead, but we're getting there. In case you're wondering, much of our efforts have been spent on getting the Dragon's Anime Youtube channel populated with all our movies from previous years. We didn't realize how daunting a task this was until we started, and then realized we had a ton of videos we've shot over the years, and we were going to need to reencode them all with modern hardware, filters, and in HD where possible. Still, we're chugging away, as you can see from the shear amount we've got so far. Once the main events are done, I'll be able to work on the snippets of events we have here and there as well. Gensao, for example, has provided me with loads of little moments in time that are a real treat to watch, and I'll share them with you at earliest opportunity.

In the mean time, we have a new review for the game Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. In a nutshell, if you liked the first one, or just like good third person shooters...you'll love this.

From each and every one of us here at Dragon's Anime we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Let's all hope it continues to be such for the foreseeable future.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Overview

The civil war has gone badly for both sides of the conflict on Cybertron. Their planetary core has shut down, and with it, the life giving energon it produced. Soon their world will be a barren husk, devoid of any ability to sustain life, fit only for those creatures that scavenge from the dead, and perhaps soon, not even them. Having evacuated as many of the Autobots and non aligned as he could, Optimus Prime turns his attention to the final transport, The Ark, which will take the bulk of the Autobot army to the stars in search of a new home. The Slagmaker himself, Megatron, leader of the Decepticons, however, has no intention of letting them escape his wrath, though he too knows that Cybertron's days are numbered.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Review

To interrupt your current bout of procrastination I bring this review to you after suffering the verbal lashings of my partner in crime who knows how much I was looking forward to and enjoyed this game. So after putting down Dragon Quest 9, I give to you a review of the game I'm really talking about: Transformers: War for Cybertron.

To be blunt, this is damn near everything a fan of the series could ask for. Never ask a fan of Transformers everything they'd want, because they invariably want more. Since it's a broken fanbase, there'll never be any real consensus on that. The best you can do is give the greatest number the most often requested items on a list, and in this, the game does not disappoint. But why am I rambling here, when you can just click that link and check out the review. I now return you to your regularly scheduled bout of putting off to next week what you can do right this second.

Overview

Megatron has lit the fires of rebellion within the city state of Kaon. In the ensuing conflict he killed Sentinel Prime in one on one combat thus starting the great Cybertronian Civil War which has ravaged the world for uncounted millenia. Now, however, Megatron thinks he's found a source of power that will enable him to tip the balance of power in the war permanently into his favor. Though Megatron may have killed or rendered ineffective every other commander of the Autobot forces, the field commander Optimus will not quietly wait for slavery or death to come for him and his fellow Autobots, no matter the cost.

In Which I Lay it to Rest After 25 Years

Having sat and stewed upon this for the greater portion of my life, I pretty certain I can finally get this out in the way I want. This is about the Death of Optimus Prime and what it truly meant to me, and perhaps what it can mean to you too rather than the Kenny-esque way in which he dies and is brought back now adays.

So I invite you all to take a walk with me down this road through the past, and maybe we can all learn something from it finally after so long.

Transformers...More than Meets the Eye

Let us take a moment to enjoy the irony of me posting this the day before the movie's release on video, some four months after it came out.

.......

Okay, I'm done.

The 2007 Transformers movie was an experience I will never forget. I saw it at Anime Expo with about three thousand other screaming yelling ravenous fans, the day (in some cases only hours) before its general release in North America on July 2nd. It was a once in a lifetime event, and I'll be damned if it didn't live up to every hope and dream I've had for the Transformers mythos since I was a child watching them blow the shit out of each other on some local channel.

One day before the movie is released on video, only four short months after it premiered, and topping in at the 19th highest grossing movie of all time, we have the Transformers as I saw it at Anime Expo 2007. It was an experience beyond all imagining, and I can only hope that my tale can convey the slightest glimmer of what it was that happened there.

Drop by the forums and add your thoughts about the whole event. CLOSED

Anime Expo 2007

Originally published as four separate articles, one for each day; they were compiled into one in order to allow for continual reading.

So…Anime Expo 2007.

Yeah, that about says it all if you were there. Going through the various blogs, forums, reposted emails, and what-have-you, the consensus was pretty much on the order of: What the flying fuck, over? For my own personal experience, this year’s convention has the most unique dichotomy; it was both the very best convention I’ve been to…and the very very worst. It was so bad, in fact, that I don’t know if I’m going back next year.

My reports on Anime Expo this year are going to be broken up into a few overlapping categories. I’m going to do a day by day report, a report on the SKIN concert, a report on the Transformers movie showing, and finally, a report on all the shit that went on this year that really REALLY fucked it all to Hell.
