Sac Anime Summer 2014 Report Up And Vimeo
Okay, a bit of procrastination aside, we now have the Sac Anime Summer 2014 report up. I'm not the only one going to be doing one, or so I hope, so expect at least one more. I found this event to be pretty much stress free and generally fun; so why not check it out how I lived it?
Also you can check out the videos embedded in the report, including the Masquerade that is hosted at our new Vimeo channel (not sure if it'll last, but we'll see).
Enjoy!
Sac Anime Summer 2014 Report
Ah, Sac Anime Summer 2014.
I think this is the fourth year I've gone to this convention, having been convinced to go by Mayhem due to it being a smaller convention, and thus not prone to the same, shall we say, 'mishaps' that tend to occur at the larger ones. They're happier just having fun and hanging out with others that enjoy all the same things we do. Yes, that's an apt description; the smaller conventions have less drama and are more laid back overall. Unfortunately as a convention does grow, attendance grows so problems and other concerns creep up. Logistics gets more problematic due to more people getting involved, the need for more space becomes a greater issue, you can now bring in higher caliber guests, but have to deal with the baggage they carry, and so forth and so on. I mention this as I've seen it happen to two conventions so far: Anime Expo and Fanime. They each followed the same pattern. Even ACEN has done this to an extent, though I came in during their transition from smaller to larger convention (and there's other concerns with the midwestern convetions that have become more prevalent as time has gone on, but that's another article). I note this because Sac Anime is about where Anime Expo was in 1999, when I first went to it. I've seen this convention as it was, small and fun at the hotel, but now it's about to start making the leap into being a larger convention, and now we're all going to see how they handle it given all the examples and lessons learned in the past that are available. Let us hope they are students of history.
Sac Anime Summer 2014 Moves Up On Youtube
I was going to wait awhile before announcing it formally due to the fact that I'll be dealing with how youtube has been silencing our vids left and right. It's looking more and more like I'm going to be heading to Vimeo, but that's a logistics problem I have to iron out before I can do so. In any event, we have the Eyeshine concert, The Slants concert, and the Lolita Fashion show up on our Youtube page for your viewing pleasure.
For those waiting for the HD rips, I'll be making those avaible in a couple of days, and it will include the Masquerade. Enjoy!
Sac Anime Summer 2013 Report Up
And finally, I get the Sac Anime Summer 2013 report done. With the small convention mentality, but the larger growing numbers, this one is at what many would term the sweet spot for pure enjoyment. I had a good time anyway, but why take just my statement here at face value? Check out my report for more detail.
Sac Anime Summer 2013 Report
Hmm…Sac Anime.
Third year I’ve been to this convention, and the first at their new location of the Sacramento Convention Center. It’s a far larger location situated in downtown Sacramento, and surrounded by all the amenities of a down town area, such as hotels, quickie marts, and food…though that last one wasn’t as important this year as I’ll describe in a bit.
As has oddly become custom, though differently arriving in this case, I wound up flying in on Friday, Day 1. Original plan was to take the train, but I’m not spending thirteen fucking hours in transit when I could drive there in eight. Wound up taking Super Shuttle to the Quality Inn situated about a block away from the convention center down town, where Mayhem and co were already set up.
Sac Anime Summer 2013 Movies Up
I actually hope to get the Sac Anime Summer 2013 report done very soon. I've been dragging ass since I really wasn't too sure how I'd like to proceed with the Masquerade video, but I'll go ahead and release it in this fashion...for now. In any event, here are the High Def, non censored, versions of the Sac Anime 2013 Summer Movies as hosted by Nyaa Torrents. These include: the Maquerade, most of the Akai Sky concert (since the Sac Anime staff would not let press in to set up early), the Steven Skyler mini concert, and the Eyeshine concert.
For those that simply want to watch the events, I invite you to head over to our Youtube Page and check them out there. I do warn you though, due to King Records (Japan) basically putting a blanket world wide blackout on any video with what they consider their property, I had to remove the audio for one of the skits. Until such time as sanity either returns or is driven by knifepoint back into law in general, this is how it shall remain on a public site like Youtube.
Enjoy, one and all!
Oh yeah, and if anyone can get me in touch with someone with the Elizabeth Stevenson memorial video, so that I may include it within the Masquerade video proper (with all credit given), I'd be most appreciative.
