Fate - Stay/Night Full Translation Released

Well, it looks like the good folk over at Mirror Moon have finally released the full translation patch for Fate - Stay/Night. The last arc, finally available, is the Heaven's Feel, or Sakura path, and should complete that final bit of story we've all been lusting after. So get over there and get it!

Anime Expo 2008 Days 0 and 1

Anime Expo this year was actually, despite all situations that could have gone bad (or in some cases, worse), actually a lot of fun. So, with that in mind, I will get this done or die trying. I've completed the first part of the Anime Expo 2008 report which encompasses days 0 through 1. I hope to get it finally done before the end of the month, then I hope to get the rest of my to do stuff done the first week or so of November. Let's see if I can keep to this schedule, heh.

Anime Expo 2008

Anime Expo 2007, despite all the bands, cool guests that attended, and other goings on, can only be called one thing: an unmitigated disaster of galactic proportions. There is no escaping this, there is no denying this, there is no justifying this. Complete and utter; the destruction was phenomenal. It couldn’t have been worse had it been planned. That being said, when the new site was announced, which was the L.A. Convention center, it received the same lukewarm response that the announcement of the Disney Land Convention Center did back in ’99. In essence the, the culmination of a comedy of errors that was only funny to sick fucks like myself and possibly Megatron.

Fanime Report 2008 Days 3 and 4

I've finally completed the Fanime report by finishing up day's 3 and 4. You can start reading from the beginning or you could just skip to the days in question.

Comments can be made in the usual place. CLOSED

Now I just need to finish up the rest on my "To Do" list, heh.

Macross Frontier (TV, 2008)

Macross Million Missile Mash: For when it absolutely, positively, 100% must be deader than dead dead DEAD.

So, Macross: Frontier. Where do I really start with one of the flagship series in the world of anime – one of the series that didn't just define a genre, but (in a horribly mutilated and misbegotten form) introduced a legion of unwitting kiddies to their first anime? I can still remember being parked in front of the TV in utter awe as I watched the really cool fighter jets that could turn into even cooler robots taking on the big mean ugly green men. RoboTech, Voltron, and Ronin Warriors... I was weaned on the holy trinity, folks. Of course, calling RoboTech anime is tantamount to high treason for a real anime devotee, but, hell, I was five years old; I'm allowed a certain amount of leeway. Let's face it, folks... when you started watching the SatAM anime on SciFi, it's because you saw the same quality to it that you remembered seeing in RoboTech, and even though you didn't know exactly what that quality was... you were drawn to it. Macross: Frontier is the 25th anniversary celebration of the original series, and... man... what a celebration...

Infinite Undiscovery (xBox 360, 2008)

See? He's heroic. Sorta.

One of the things I've been a fan of since the first time I picked up that little rectangular N.E.S. control pad is RPGs – in fact, the very first game that I owned was the original Final Fantasy. I've been hooked on RPGs ever since, partly because the storylines are almost always so engrossing, and because, pound-for-pound, I've found that I get the most bang out of my buck with a good RPG. They're longer – though not as long as they used to be unfortunately – than any other type of game out there, and while some would turn up their nose at the idea of replaying an RPG, I find that it's interesting to go back through with the knowledge gained at the end of the story and see the little nods used to setup the ending. With that in mind, I decided to pick up a little game that I'd heard absolutely nothing about purely on the fact that it was an RPG, and it was released by Squaresoft... erm, SquareEnix, the same company that made one of my favorite games of all time. That game was Infinite Undiscovery.

Toonami to be canceled on Cartoon Network

Apparently Cartoon Network has cut off their Toonami block of programming after 11 years of being on the air.

I'm not sure if this is going to be a good or a bad thing, but damn, end of an era there.

Drop by the Forums and start a thread to talk about it if you want.CLOSED

Fanime 2008 Report Day 2

Well, working through the Fanime Report. Day two is the day that most of the fun stuff happened, so it's by far the longest part of the report. Hopefully I'll get Days three through four done early next week and start on the Anime Expo Report...and have that finished by the end of September.

Only a couple months late...really, not so bad.

Questions and concerns can be posted on the forums. CLOSED

Have fun!

Fanime 2008 Report Day 1

Been hitting Neverwinter 2 pretty hard. That'll probably be my first video game review when I get done with the blasted game. In any event, here's the Fanime Day 1 report for your viewing pleasure. I have a tentative plan to get that done this week and Anime Expo the following week, but we'll see if that's too ambitious.

Comments and concerns can be left in the usual place. CLOSED

Lessee, what else do I need to do? Finish up inputting my old reviews, comment on the AX photos, upload Doug's Fanime pics...damn, I'm slacking hard.

Golgo 13 (TV, 2008)

So, I'm going to change things up a little bit today, and break with my habit of waiting until a series is done to review it. That's because today I want to take a look at Golgo 13, and if I wait for the series to wrap I'm not going to be reviewing it for at least another year – it's a 50 episode series! I figure that just about everybody's heard of Golgo 13 at least once. The manga series has been running for so long – it started in 1969, folks – that it's become one of the cornerstones of manga. The TV series that started for Spring 2008 is the first time it's been to the small screen, but Golgo has books, manga, OVA's, movies – animated and live action – and video games too. He's been called the Japanese James Bond, and I'd sure like to see them get together sometime for a mission.
