Seto no Hanayome Review

This week it's a journey under the sea to visit Seto no Hanayome, a series with a main character that is absolutely guaranteed to wake up swimming with the fishies some day.  Mermaids, sea crabs with assault shells, and fathers who don't know when to let go of their daughters... what could possibly go wrong?  Read the review to find out, folks... don't forget your cement overshoes.  King Triton was never THIS overprotective.

Seto no Hanayome (TV, 2007)

Overview

There's been a glut of really good series coming out this spring season. Seems like every time I grab a new title, I find a new awesome story. So my expectations were high when I read the basic idea on Seto no Hanayome. Boy goes on vacation... boy drowns... boy gets saved by mermaid. Now, there's one minor problem... Mermaid's parents are Yakuza, and there's a law about land dwellers seeing mermaids in their true form and living... they don't. Right up until we get to the parents, the idea was pretty basic. Pretty much a standard Little Mermaid tale. I wouldn't have spent the time to download it, if that had been all... but the extended premise looked interesting.

Hellsing Ultimate Review & AMG TV Season 2

This week the new review is on the first episode of Hellsing Ultimate, the new OVA series based heavilly on the original manga. With an entirely different feel to it than the TV series, this is sure to be a hit with fans and newcomers alike!

In other news, we'd like to point out that the second season of Ah! My Goddess! - Sorezore no Tsubasa - has started showing in Japan, and once again Anime One and AnimeYuki are doing the subbing! Fans of the series should check out AnimeYuki's site for torrents.

Ah! My Goddess! (TV, 2005)

Overview

Folks, lemme take a little break from my usual impatient, rude, and generally pissed off nature, in favor of a side that I've been told that I don't show often enough - the fact that I am, at a certain level, something of a hopeless romantic. A little history for those of you that don't know the series - Ah! My Goddess! is one of the longest running manga series around, centering around a student of Nekomi Tech named Keichi. Our young friend is, unfortunately, something of a hapless fellow. Kind, caring, self-sacrificing and willing to put up with practically anything and just smile through it, he doesn't really have a life of his own. Living in a rock-bottom rent dorm room with the Nekomi Motor Club - a club of misfits if there ever were, K1 - shorthand for Keichi - is doing chores and answering phones for the upperclassmen one night when he gets hungry, and decides to order out.
