Fanime Report 2008

Fanime 2008 was, overall, a pretty enjoyable and oddly restfull experience. I’d go so far as to say even low key. It doesn’t share the same tireless energy as ACEN, the frenzied pace of Anime Expo, or the overwhelming (even disorientating) abundance of Comic Con, but it has its share of things to do; all of which are fun. However, Fanime always has this tone of being extremely laid back, or as Gensao put it, “It’s a three day con spread over four days.” This is true, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. One doesn’t NEED to be going from place to place at mach speeds of over 9000 all the goddamn time. Sometimes it’s best to sit around and chill with a few thousand people and meander around from place to place in no particular rush. Only thing that would have made it better is if they had a bar right outside of the dealer’s hall and registration or served beer at the Maid Café. Hey, that’s an idea: a Maid wet bar. No, not wet nurse, wet bar! Sheesh, bunch of pervs out there, I swear. Wait, I’m the only one writing here. FUCK!

Well, just got back from Anime Expo, and overall impression of the con is both surprisingly and extremely favorable. More on that later. Right now, I've managed to upload the Fanime 2008 pics part 2 to TFA Cosplay for your enjoyment.

Fanime 2008 Pics Part 1

Well, finally got the first set of the pics for Fanime 08 up over at TFA Cosplay. Had to divide them up due to the fact my new camera resets its numbering scheme with every new memory card, heh. Going to have to go through them and the ACEN pics and comment on a few that had some stories behind them.

Browse freely and enjoy! Don't be afraid to here, either. CLOSED

No, I'm not dead, though I really feel like I should be at the moment, heh. Recently I've been upgrading and restructuring both the Tenchi Muyo fanart site I used to run and the site for the cosplay pictures I and others have taken over the years. Finally, it is complete enough to open.

Back from Anime Expo 2007

Ah, Anime Expo. What can one say about the convention this year? A lot, but that'll have to wait until mine, and others, reports get written. In the mean time, I've uploaded the pictures of this years' cosplayers to the Conventions page of Tenchi Fanart.

Fanime 2007 Report

Well, it's that time of year again. I've been to Fanime 2007 and survived...I think. Here's a little report on the whole...I do believe the word 'adventure' comes to mind.

Also, I've posted up the pictures from this convention, at a site that's probably going to be undergoing permanent construction since I'm not sure I'll ever be quite satisfied with it.

Don't forget to stop by the forums and tell me what you thought of the pics and the report. CLOSED

Fanime 2007...the year of Anime Hell

Ah, Fanime 2007. This year, the plan was to attend the convention for a full two days. Fortunately this year I had everything prepared well in advance, requiring only the purchase of a couple of 80/120 minute tapes for the video taping of the Masquerade. Having done this two weeks earlier, I had absolutely no problems in leaving for Ceres to spend a day with Mayhem before heading up to the convention. We watched Pirates that night…f’n great movie, I thought.

Fanime Report: 2006

Fanime...Fanime...Fanime...

What can I really say about this convention? Hmm...I was only there for one day, so it's kind of hard to do a a full blown report on it. My tastes are more geared towards the events and experiences of a convention for reasons I'll state below.

Here recently, the Fanfiction Mailing List, also known as the FFML, has opened its doors to pretty much all animation, sci fi, and fantasy stories, noting that their writers for Ranma and Sailor Moon have pretty much dried up and gone on to bigger and better things. A new website is also in the works, and I for one say about damn time.
