Sac Anime Summer 2011 Report

Sac Anime is a biannual convention located in Sacramento, California taking place in January and September, which I attended this past September. Both Mayhem and Gensao had been bothering me about checking it out at least once; so finally caving, I went ahead and made plans to attend. As is usual for me in current years, I attended as Press, which typically allows me to set up camera gear, record events, and whatnot with minimal fuss, especially at smaller conventions like this one.

Anime Expo and AM2 2011 Report Now Up

After a month of fighting with technology, getting up movies and pictures, and generally making a mess of things, I finally have the report up for Anime Expo and AM2 up.

Much was done this year, and much wasn't done that I really smack myself for not doing. These are the many things I will need to consider, but in the mean time, check out all the fun stuff that went on.

We're not done yet with all the pics, movies, and reports, but this is one of the biggest hurdles cleared so far. We'll be putting everything up as it becomes available, so stay tuned!

Anime Expo and AM2 2011 Report

Anime Expo 2011 and AM2

Before I begin, I would like to note that I'm combining the two convention reports due to the fact that they occurred at the same time, but I was unable to attend more than a day at AM2 (that '2' is for 'squared') due to the Hatsune Miku concert. Therefore, there's really not as much to AM2 as I would have if I attended the entire time. So what I covered at AM2 will be included in this report, but will have its own distinct section.

Fanime 2011 Report Now Up

Well my fine feathered friends, we have for you today, a romp around the Fanime convention of 2011 in the form of a news report by yours truly.

Great and terrible deeds were performed this time around, as we watch Fanime break the 20k attendee mark, while having to deal with Industry and Venue meddling at the same time they're trying to remain a convention by the fans for the fans. Fun was still had, but much was done that makes one question how long they can pull it off at their current venue and them becoming quite noticeable by pretty much everyone now. But you don't need me talking your ear off here. Click the link above and check it out for yourself.

Fanime 2011 Report

Fanime…Fanime…Fanime…. Tsk, tsk, tsk, people, I warned you guys last year about what would happen with lack of planning and communications. With a jump to the above 20,000 attendees mark, you're now looking at a volatile combination that's primed to explode even worse than the massive screw up of this year. And though massive, it was only in the REALLY annoying to slightly detrimental category, and not a supreme fuck up like say, Anime Expo 2007.

I hope you all appreciate this one. Thanks to the power of my new PC, solving some serious technical issues that plague me on a yearly basis, and having some time to write, I give you everything from Anime Conji's 2011 Convention.

Anime Conji 2011

The one thing that has been neglected for the longest time is an an anime convention here in sunny San Diego. I mean, LA has several, including the biggest: Anime Expo, and there are several up north in most of their cities. This is mostly due to the fact that down here we have this rather wonderful little event called Comic Con. It actually has much of the same things that even the larger anime conventions do, coupled with the inclusion of the general sci fi, fantasy, comics, movies, and various other mediums that evoke a certain level of fandom. Problem is that it is f'n huge. So much so that it has to limit attendance (something Anime Expo would do well to emulate), and in recent years, tickets for all days have been sold out several months in advance. We here at Dragon's Anime don't even try to cover that one (Hell, I haven't even GONE to that one in a couple years) due to the logistics involved, even with one of its members, and several friends, actually in the same city.

Mayhem's Winter 2011 Sac Anime Report Is Now Up

First off, I'd like to welcome a new contributor to Dragon's Anime, Mayhem. He's actually been contributing photos to TFA Cosplay for awhile now, and we finally got him to start writing articles for us. In this case, a report on Winter 2011's SAC Anime, so take a gander inside, see what he saw while he was there.

Now if only we could get him to get the other articles he's promised us written. >_>

Thoughts on Anime Expo 2010 and Club 2 The Maxx

I am the king of procrastination! Fear my ability to put off to tomorrow what I can do today! Failing that, check out what I did a couple months ago at Anime Expo 2010 and Club 2 The Maxx, a competing one day event to Anime Expo.
