A Pitiful And Beastly Anime

Been meaning to warn people away do a review on Jyu-Oh-Sei, or Planet of the Beast King, for quite some time now. If I felt any real duty to the whole of humanity (outside of conquering it...oh wait, did I say that out loud?) I'd probably say that it was my obligation to inform people before they considered watching it that they were never going to get those six hours back. With its recent introduction to Netflix, many more are going to need this warning. If you don't believe me, click that link in the first paragraph and know what I suffered through, and make your decision accordingly.

As for me, I need another beer after the pure Hell I suffered through.

Jyu Oh Sei (TV, 2006)

Overview

It's a slump season, fuck all interesting is playing, I'm drinking a beer, and watching anime I missed out on when it first came out.

Yeah, it's time for another round of "Anime to Avoid." Today's fine example of how to fail at life is a piece of whale shit known as Jyu-Oh-Sei, otherwise known as Planet of the Beast King.

Hang on, I need another beer. You should get one too if you're going to slog through this wretched pile of rotting sewage with me.

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you're all having fun and with those you love. For our gift to you, we give you a new review, that of Kaze no Stigma, or Stigma of the Wind. A fantastic series that you can buy in full from the link on the review or stream from Netflix in its entirety (and I wonder if they have an associates program...have to check that out). It's a great way to spend Christmas Day, especially if you're tired of the same old in anime, for this is not any of the same old.

Check out the review, and if you think this is your thing, check out the anime. I liked it a lot, and you may too. Again, Merry Christmas all! I think I may watch it again myself.

Kaze no Stigma (TV, 2007)

Overview

There once was a young boy by the name of Kazuma Kannagi who was found to have none of the hereditary power of Ejutsu, the ability to control fire, that his entire family wielded. This became a source of constant ridicule, petty (and not so petty) bullying, and constant shame. Eventually this came to its culmination one day in his exile at a very young age after his defeat by a distant relative, Ayano Kannagi, in the bout to decide who would be the heir to the family and wield its family sword, Enraiha and all the power it contained. Weak, broken, and betrayed by those who were supposed to love and care for him, he left to make his own way in the world or die. Several years later he has come home, now going by the name Kazuma Yagami, with a new power, the Fujutsushi; the power to control air. And he is very VERY pissed off.

Infernos and Mobsters and Phantoms, oh my!

There are reasons to be afraid of the dark out there, even if you don't believe in critters under your bed and hiding in your closet. For myself, I took the doors off my closet so they couldn't hide there, and my mattress sits right on the floor so there's no room for them to fit. Unfortunately, that just takes care of the physical ones – what about the ghosts, the phantoms that wander about? This week it's time for a Requiem for the Phantom(s) out there. Dunno if we can put them to rest, but at the very least it's going to be a spooky ride.

That'sa Spicy Wulfie!

This time we're revisiting some old friends as I take a look at the second season of Spice & Wolf. Horo's back, and of course she's still teasing along her favorite chew toy Lawrence Craft as they make their way northward. Come hit the road with them and see what sort of trouble they get into this time!

Romeo x Juliet Review

School's finally let out for a couple week's worth of break, and I've finally got a new review to put out there... well, sorta. This quarter included Humanities as a course, and in order to keep myself from going completely insane, I thought that it'd be a good idea to write up a review on Romeo x Juliet for one of my papers. It's an interesting take on a classic story, and worth taking a look at folks. You can discuss it over on the forums, too. CLOSED

Well, sort of back from the dead of web coding. Perhaps undead would be more appropriate, though I really wish this anime kept to the promise of bringing me back to life. Rosario + Vampire TV is the review this time. It should have been the anime on how to care and feed for the molestable forces of darkness, but turned into the kick in the nuts of last season as you'll soon read about.

Head over to the forums and discuss! CLOSED

Rosario + Vampire (TV, 2008)

Overview

Tsukune Aono just failed the entry into pretty much every High School around...except for one. A school in another dimension that caters to the education of the monster children of this world into the human sphere of influence in a Masquerade situation. Though he doesn't realize this at first, not until he runs into the one of the students, the beautiful Moka...who immediately uses him to slake her thirst being a vampire. So begins his problems of collecting babes who represent the forces of darkness, trying to stay alive in a place whose denizens typically see humans as chow, all the while slipping into the role of your basic soulless harem anime protagonist...eventually with awesome power.
