Anime Expo 2006 Idol Contest

As promised, I have completed the torrent of the Anime Expo 2006 Idol contest...and I say with no ego, this is probably one of the best things I've ever shot, even with that damn guy in front of me who kept getting in my way, heh. I have no words to describe what you are about to see, but it will be better than damn near every American Idol ep that has ever been seen...of that you can be sure.

Discuss and drop comments here. Don't be afraid to start your own threads for things you see up front either. CLOSED

Fanime Report: 2006

Fanime...Fanime...Fanime...

What can I really say about this convention? Hmm...I was only there for one day, so it's kind of hard to do a a full blown report on it. My tastes are more geared towards the events and experiences of a convention for reasons I'll state below.

Fanime 2006 & Optimus Prime!

For your enjoyment this week, I've created a little story concerning my trip to Fanime 2006. It's filled with thrills, chills, and daring...nah, it wasn't any of that, but it was fun, let me tell you.

Also, in case you weren't aware...IT'S OFFICIAL!!! Peter Cullen Will Be Optimus Prime in the upcoming movie! Now all we need is Frank Welker as Megatron, and we're all set. As for me...I'm cracking a cold one in salute!

Here recently, the Fanfiction Mailing List, also known as the FFML, has opened its doors to pretty much all animation, sci fi, and fantasy stories, noting that their writers for Ranma and Sailor Moon have pretty much dried up and gone on to bigger and better things. A new website is also in the works, and I for one say about damn time.

Fate: Stay/Night Review

Today we have what is an oddity of anime story telling in that despite the best efforts of the production staff to completely screw it up, the story and characters shine through proving how powerful the source material must have been. So without further ado, may I present to you: Fate: Stay/Night.

Fate Stay/Night (TV, 2006)

Overview

Folks, meet Emiya Shirou. They call him the carrot top of Japan...well, not really, but there you have it; an orange haired Japanese boy enrolled in High School. A family friend has been coming over to take care of him since his adopted father passed away, going well into a few years now. Honestly, if this cliche hasn't been overdone, I don't know what is. However, one night, while staying late at school, he comes upon two men fighting to the death with some seriously hardcore edged weapons. One of them notes his presence, and after the duel, in which both broke off the fight for another time, the one who is called Lancer, tracks him down and attempts to kill him. This leads into a chain of events where he finds out he is one of the chosen Magi to fight in a war for the Holy Grail...an artifact which can grant any desire. The Magi, who are the masters, are given leave to summon one servant to aid them...these servants typically being Eiri, the valorously slain; and quite by accident, Shirou manages to summon the best of them, the Sabre...which was surprising to all, especially Sabre, who greets him with the question, "I ask you, are you my master?"

A Fandom Evolution

So, here's an interesting tidbit that slapped me in the head here recently.

I was at Fanime here a bit ago, and the situation that struck me was this:

RoaDLM: Epiphanies at Conventions

Whilst walking through Fanime bright and cheery, I stumbled across a fangirl lovely and pretty. Her boyfriend hovered o'er her dark and blearly, from the bounds of hell, did he seem quite leary, of the fanboy attention she did receive. Pausing not to wonder why my meter is now askew, epiphany struck like morning dew. So here are my words to give it definition; dear brave souls, we have become transcendant in our mission.

Rozen Maiden Träumend (TV, 2005)

Overview

Following the ending of the first season of Rozen Maiden, the 5th doll of the Maiden's, Shinku, formerly flush with her victory over Suigin Tou now finds herself wracked with guilt over destroying a sister. Unfortunately, the final two Rozen Maidens have been awoken to finish what was started centuries ago when Rozen first created the Maidens: The Alice Game. The game by which the dolls will do battle until only one remains. The winner takes the loser's Roza Mystica, the very source of the life of the dolls; leaving the loser a soulless immobile husk. And when there is only one left, that doll will then have the power to become Alice; the perfect girl, flawless and unblemished, more sublime than any flower, and more pure than even the purest of gems. Though the remaining dolls have no intention of killing each other for this ideal, Bara Suisho, the final doll, has other plans.

Today we have a review the next season of a series I think everyone should probably take time to sit down and watch, Rozen Maiden: Träumend. A fair warning to those that do...you may find yourself hopelessly hooked on this wonderful and deep story.
