And here we have the online vimeo movie of Day 2 of Anison USA February 2016's performance. This was more of a concert setting taking place within the Bootleg Theatre located in Los Angeles. While it did start nearly two hours late, we did manage to get everything done, including the autographs at the end (though that in a very compressed manner). It's at times like this I wish I had some sort of platform for myself and the camera tripod to stand on, but I think I got everthing that needed to be gotten. Admittedly I had to quit trying to pull double duty as a photographer about half way through the event if I wanted the camera to stay on the performers to any reasonable degree, so I didn't get as much of that as I'd have liked. There was also the one tall dude who somehow always meandered into my shot, no matter where I replaced the tripod...it was surreal since he wasn't even doing it on purpose. Still, it was a lot of fun, as you'll see by clicking either on the article title itself or the more button below.
About a week ago I attended an event called Anison (short for Anime Song) USA. Apparently in their second year, it showcases various J-pop or J-pop inspired artists performing for their fans over here. This year included the talents of Ayu, Nozomi, Vandead Bakery, Roli Angel, Ally and Sally (, Momoi Halko, and Yumi Matsuzawa. Day one actually took place at a little anime store in Temple City, CA called Desu-nation. Aside from having to find a place to film, shooing people out of the way occasionally, and dealing with my camera being bumped and even knocked over once, it was an interesting and fairly decent event. Long Beach Comic Con was going on that weekend as well, but to be honest, the larger events are beginning to really piss me off considering what happens after a time with every convention once it reaches a certain critical mass in its membership. The smaller gatherings are beginning to be a lot more rewarding artistically, since you can actuallY BE artistic both in terms of covering them and for those performing in them for a receptive audience. So, click on the jump and you can check out day one of Anison USA's video. Day two, taking place at the Bootleg Theatre in L.A. and its pictures should be up sometime this week as well. Enjoy!
