Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero Review Up

I really need to do more of these. They don't take THAT long, after all...at least not like before when I was writing novels for a review. In any event, hopefully I can do at least one a week before I go on vacation, we have for your viewing pleasure, Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero. In this we find the tale of debauchery played straight and the cries of 2chan as their waifu grabbing breaks under the tender mercies of inherent logic.

Well, perhaps not quite like that, but read on, if you want to get the jist of where I'm coming from.

Maoyū Maō Yūsha Anime Review Up

As I slog through the various bits of AX media (15,000+ pics! This is not going to be quick!) I find I feel the need to review some anime. Under the gun this time is the Maoyū Maō Yūsha anime. This one just barely escapes the executioner's axe, but I'll be damned if it doesn't get some sort of drubbing for the ball dropping its guilty of. Read on, to see what I mean.

Maoyū Maō Yūsha (TV,2013)

Overview

It's time. You're at level 99. Your party has your back. However, you know what's probably going to happen to them if they come with you on this, your final assault on the big bad. So, you go alone, cutting through the defenders of the Dark Overlord like butter (or would, if there were any...very strange), and finally getting to the throne where that entity awaits you. Yet, all you find is rather friendly, well dressed, and buxom...very buxom (oh, by the Light Spirit, this lady is built like a brick shithouse with not one brick out of place) woman who seems a lot happier to see you than a Demon Lord should. "Be mine, Hero!" she commands in the manner of a pleasant request. Of course, you know better than that. Despite her loving and happy demeanor and rather...interesting...looks she is still the final obstacle to stopping the invasion of your world by the forces of evil. You refuse, prompting a rather surprising and truly puzzled response from her of, "Really?" About this point, even your dull senses are registering that 'Okay, this isn't how this usually goes. Something isn't right here.' And through the course of the conversation you're about to have, you find out there's a whole lot that's not right about everything you once believed in. Things are a lot direr than you initially thought, and simply taking her out won't change shit. The question now is: What are you going to do about it? For that, she makes you an offer you'd be a fool to refuse, and it turns out the price she has already asked of you is something you're now more than willing to part with...for there is work to be done, and it's going to take you both to see it through if your world is to have any hope of survival.

Transformers - Fall of Cybertron Review Up

We're not dead, but we're getting there. In case you're wondering, much of our efforts have been spent on getting the Dragon's Anime Youtube channel populated with all our movies from previous years. We didn't realize how daunting a task this was until we started, and then realized we had a ton of videos we've shot over the years, and we were going to need to reencode them all with modern hardware, filters, and in HD where possible. Still, we're chugging away, as you can see from the shear amount we've got so far. Once the main events are done, I'll be able to work on the snippets of events we have here and there as well. Gensao, for example, has provided me with loads of little moments in time that are a real treat to watch, and I'll share them with you at earliest opportunity.

In the mean time, we have a new review for the game Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. In a nutshell, if you liked the first one, or just like good third person shooters...you'll love this.

From each and every one of us here at Dragon's Anime we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Let's all hope it continues to be such for the foreseeable future.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Overview

The civil war has gone badly for both sides of the conflict on Cybertron. Their planetary core has shut down, and with it, the life giving energon it produced. Soon their world will be a barren husk, devoid of any ability to sustain life, fit only for those creatures that scavenge from the dead, and perhaps soon, not even them. Having evacuated as many of the Autobots and non aligned as he could, Optimus Prime turns his attention to the final transport, The Ark, which will take the bulk of the Autobot army to the stars in search of a new home. The Slagmaker himself, Megatron, leader of the Decepticons, however, has no intention of letting them escape his wrath, though he too knows that Cybertron's days are numbered.

And for your viewing pleasure, a bit of guilty pleasure in the smaller reviews of the ecchi anime series Ladies vs. Butlers and the honestly funny bit of trolling commedy called Mayo Chiki!

These series really aren't much in the way of substance, hence the combined and shortened reviews, but are still quite entertaining and good for a look through if you don't really want to think about anything too hard. But check out the review if you need further convincing, just leave your sanity at the door.

We're going to be doing a little bit of a two-fer this time around. Ladies vs Butlers and from the makers of Ladies vs. Butlers, Mayo-chiki.

Overview - Ladies vs. Butlers

Akiharu Hino, a scarred and delinquent looking fellow, decides that he no longer wishes to be a burden on his uncle anymore, having lost his parents at an early age, and enrolls Hakureiryō Academy succeeding in passing the test for the House Management Department, where the school trains servants for high society. It is here through a comedy of errors he winds up meeting the two girls who will come to dominate his attention, the firey tsundere Selnia Iori Flameheart and the master troll and childhood friend (who traumatized the living fuck out of him when he was younger) Tomomi Saikyō, thus beginning the wacky hijinks of Ladies vs. Butlers.

L.A. Noire (PS3, 2011)

Overview

Dressed to kill.December, 1947, Los Angeles. Rain had been trying to scrub the city clean for a week, but sometimes I think Noah’s flood wouldn’t be enough to do this town justice. I was sitting in my darkened office, taking the last drag off a heater down to its filter, too broke to buy a new pack or pay the bill to turn on the lights, but that didn't matter. Not for a private detective sitting across the desk from lovely Lola LaSalle, a dame with all the right curves, and all the wrong reasons for coming to a guy like me. A sweet country girl, Lola, or she had been before the dreams of rising stardom she followed west from Iowa fell under the weight of Hollywood’s millstone. I could see the story in her watery blue eyes, grim as the downpour outside in that baby-doll face, as she told me all about her roommate that had gone missing last night. I’d heard her story a hundred times before… after all, her story, and others like it, are the only reason a gumshoe like me can make it in L.A. Noire

A Pitiful And Beastly Anime

Been meaning to warn people away do a review on Jyu-Oh-Sei, or Planet of the Beast King, for quite some time now. If I felt any real duty to the whole of humanity (outside of conquering it...oh wait, did I say that out loud?) I'd probably say that it was my obligation to inform people before they considered watching it that they were never going to get those six hours back. With its recent introduction to Netflix, many more are going to need this warning. If you don't believe me, click that link in the first paragraph and know what I suffered through, and make your decision accordingly.

As for me, I need another beer after the pure Hell I suffered through.
