Well, as promised, here are the high def versions for the Sac Anime Summer 2014 movies as hosted by Nyaa Torrents, or you can click on the attachment below this news item (you have to hit 'read more' to see it). It's around 8GB worth of data, so be prepared for the load. Enjoy!
Okay, a bit of procrastination aside, we now have the Sac Anime Summer 2014 report up. I'm not the only one going to be doing one, or so I hope, so expect at least one more. I found this event to be pretty much stress free and generally fun; so why not check it out how I lived it?
Also you can check out the videos embedded in the report, including the Masquerade that is hosted at our new Vimeo channel (not sure if it'll last, but we'll see).
Ah, Sac Anime Summer 2014.
I think this is the fourth year I've gone to this convention, having been convinced to go by Mayhem due to it being a smaller convention, and thus not prone to the same, shall we say, 'mishaps' that tend to occur at the larger ones. They're happier just having fun and hanging out with others that enjoy all the same things we do. Yes, that's an apt description; the smaller conventions have less drama and are more laid back overall. Unfortunately as a convention does grow, attendance grows so problems and other concerns creep up. Logistics gets more problematic due to more people getting involved, the need for more space becomes a greater issue, you can now bring in higher caliber guests, but have to deal with the baggage they carry, and so forth and so on. I mention this as I've seen it happen to two conventions so far: Anime Expo and Fanime. They each followed the same pattern. Even ACEN has done this to an extent, though I came in during their transition from smaller to larger convention (and there's other concerns with the midwestern convetions that have become more prevalent as time has gone on, but that's another article). I note this because Sac Anime is about where Anime Expo was in 1999, when I first went to it. I've seen this convention as it was, small and fun at the hotel, but now it's about to start making the leap into being a larger convention, and now we're all going to see how they handle it given all the examples and lessons learned in the past that are available. Let us hope they are students of history.
I was going to wait awhile before announcing it formally due to the fact that I'll be dealing with how youtube has been silencing our vids left and right. It's looking more and more like I'm going to be heading to Vimeo, but that's a logistics problem I have to iron out before I can do so. In any event, we have the Eyeshine concert, The Slants concert, and the Lolita Fashion show up on our Youtube page for your viewing pleasure.
For those waiting for the HD rips, I'll be making those avaible in a couple of days, and it will include the Masquerade. Enjoy!
Well, I've had mine up for awhile, I'll grant, and I was going to wait to make the formal announcement until I managed to get them all up, but this is taking a great deal of time. As such, I'll just update as I get them done. With this in mind, you can click to the gallery by using the links up top, or just head over here for both mine and Gensao's Anime Expo 2013 pics.
Bring some popcorn, there's a massive amount here. As always, if you're a cosplayer, and you see pics of your cosplay you want in unedited and/or raw format, drop me a line and I'll make them available.
Well, only a little bit late this time around. At least I got it done before ACEN and Fanime. Still, for those that wish to know what went down concerning Anime Conji 2013, just head over to the report and check it out. Some say that it's not a convention unless you feel happy, in pain, with the life drained out of you. I personally prefer a succubus to do that for me, so I find welcome relief when I go to a convention where I just get the happy part.
Concerning ACEN, so long as their policy that they own all rights to every event, and nothing can be recorded or used without their say or how they specify (which is currently that one can only cut it into a highlight advertisment clip), then I will not work for them in any capacity. I'll attend because family and friends are in the area, and even despite that, it's a fun time. Concerning press or any further recording or work? They've put paid to that notion for the forseeable future...which is a damn shame. It used to be a cooperation, but now? They own it all, and your fun time exists only because they say it does and how they say it does.
Ah, Anime Conji...good times. Anime Conji is currently the only purely anime convention here in San Diego and this was its fourth year running. This was also the third year at the Town and Country Hotel and the second for using its convention center; the first year being spent at the Double Tree hotel, and crowded that poor place out. So far, the Town and Country has provided plenty of room for the convention and its attendees; in fact this year I would go so far as to say it was almost too much room.
Well, unfortunatley due to the needlessly draconian copyright policies we currently live under that is going to require a violent and bloody revolution to correct, it's going to be a couple months before we can start uploading new long videos to our Youtube page. Until then, here's the 720p torrents of the Anime Conji Masquerade and the Anime Conji Fashion Show for your viewing pleasure. There's some surprises in both this year, so I'm sure you'll be entertained.
Thanks to Nyaa Torrents for the hosting. Or, if you prefer, there should be some links at the bottom of this post to download the torrent files directly if you click on the 'Read More' link.
So, you like movies?! You like movies from conventions?! Yeah, we got those. And if Youtube would quit flagging them for every violation known to man only to have them slowly released, we'd upload them to Youtube faster. Until then though, we have our old friend, bittorrent. And what movies are these? Why, the movies from Anime Expo 2012, the link hosted by Nyaa Torrents...or you could click on the Attchments field of this post and get it there! What movies do we have? Oh, just the Masquerade (of course), the Lounge 21 Traci Hines and Midnight Shinigami concerts, the first formal (as in put on by Anime Expo rather than someone else, not all tuxedoish...though that would not have been out of place) Anime Expo Fashion Show, and the Yuki Kajiura Press Panel.
So what are you waiting for? We only seed for a couple weeks! Get them while you can!
Huh? What? Oh, right. Time for a report. You'll have to excuse the mess…yeah okay, the beer and various other alcoholic drinks scattered about, but I was at least rather mellow this whole convention. Even when they were doing what AX does best and not speaking to each other. At all. I kinda find it amusing that one has to stay a little bit 'happy' just to get through this convention, and that this year, being AX's 21st birthday, they tried to keep us 'happy' with various places to get alcohol, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
