Anime Central 2010 Report

It started when I was being driven to the airport in some rent-a-shuttle you booked for a flight at early hours that should be outlawed or at least protested on a weekly basis, while feeling the effects of a cold just starting that I hoped in vain to whatever god I worshiped isn't a cold just starting make that dry scratchy feeling in the back of my throat. Bus driver was blessedly silent as I alternated between staying awake, silent religious supplication, and waiting for the drugs I took before I boarded to kick in. There's also this vague nagging suspicion that in my haste to get everything together, coupled with the pain I'm presently feeling, that I forgot something maddeningly important. Quick mental checks are not possible; haven't had anyone hit my turbo button yet by mainlining me with a Monster energy drink or even some of the finest brewed Columbian lighter fluid. What items I have high pri on my list, that which makes what I do possible at conventions; I do manage to confirm are in my possession before hitting San Diego International.

Summer 2010 Watch List

The Spring 2010 anime season is winding down, and with it all of the series that I've been watching lately. Angel Beats and Ichiban Ushiro Daimaou, and holdovers from Winter 2010 Durarara!! and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood have all been some solid material this season, but all good things do come to an end. Fortunately, it's looking like the Summer 2010 season is going to be just packed with new series to follow – and I do mean packed, as my personal watch list has ten series on it. Naturally, that number will probably drop off a bit after a couple weeks, but as of right now Summer 2010 has more obvious potential than the last three seasons of anime put together.

Mayhem's Fanime 2010 Pics Are Up

Doug Nelson, also known as Mayhem, has posted his Fanime pics on TFA Cosplay. This was also a very good year for picture taking as he was allowed back stage of the Masquerade to take some composed shots of the cosplayers with a quality you don't often get to see. You'll find those pics in the first item which is a sub album for the Masquerade photos.

As always, if you see your pic and you want a larger and/or raw version of it, send me a message and I'll make it available. Enjoy!

Fanime 2010 Pics Up!

And after some serious toil, I have the Fanime 2010 pics up for viewing. Lots of notables worth mentioning, and I need to get some comments on them when I can...not to mention work on videos and the articles which will explain more.

As always, if you see your pic and want a larger or unedited RAW version, just send me an email and let me know. Have fun one and all, it was a fun year, as you'll see when you check them out!

p>As I sit here listening to Kung Fu Fighting by Fun Thomas and Carl Douglas, all the while wondering what the Hell I'm thinking going to conventions back to back like I do with ACEN and Fanime, I've managed to complete the processing and uploading of the pics from Anime Central 2010, which you can find here on TFA Cosplay.

ACEN 2010 Convention Photos

ACEN 2010 was fun, fun fun...aside from the cold I was dealing with that is. Also there was the entire Yoshiki from X Japan punk'ing the Masquerade...which was humorous too. He was basically promoing X Japan appearing at Lolapalooza in Chicago in August and the Nissan stadium in Japan a few days later, so tell your friends!

Splinter Cell: Conviction (PC, 2010)

Let me start this off by admitting that all in all, major stealth games are generally not my cup of tea. It's not that I can't play through a game stealthily – quite the opposite, I usually take every chance I can to avoid/eliminate an opponent from as far away as possible, and there's a reason that nine times out of ten, the sniper rifle is my preferred weapon. There's a difference, though, between that, and a 'major' stealth game, that being that in a 'major' stealth game the goal isn't so much to eliminate your enemies as it is to complete your objectives without alerting the entire world to your presence. That's something difficult to do when you bang down the door and start spraying the enemy contingent with pulse rifle fire. So, with that in mind, I decided to take a look at Splinter Cell: Conviction after playing through the demo and being pleasantly surprised by it.

Anime Conji First Year's Report

Well, as promised, the report for the first, and from all reports, now annual convention, Anime Conji, is now up here on Dragon's Anime.

This is the first anime convention for sunny San Diego, and for its first year, I can honestly say I had a decent time, and can well recommend attending to anyone. Though it may be cheaper to bring your own beer...I'll have to look into that next year.
