Back from ACEN, and noting I'm not 21 anymore...and can't party all night and shrug it off like I used to. Regardless, we have pics for you to fawn over. As is usual, if you're one of the cosplayers and see your pic in there, drop me a line if you wish, and I'll make them available.

Enjoy!

Anime Conji Report Now Up

So, after a few weeks, here's my little report on Anime Conji 2015. Kinda felt like this one needed a pick me up, even with some of what went down. Still, not a bad use of a weekend by any stretch. Take a gander inside, and check out what I thought. Maybe you'd like to attend in the future, who knows?

With a little love, and some tenderness; we'll walk upon the water...well, maybe not, but I was listening to Hootie and the Blowfish while editing this last convention of Anime Conji 2015's pictures. There were other, higher profile conventions going on this past weekend, but there's much to be said about a smaller one with a lot less running around and stress. It's also a lot more personable, since you tend to run into the same people a lot. I doubt you want to hear me ramble on, so check out the pics. As is usual, if you see your pic and you want a larger/unedited and/or raw copy, drop me a line and let me know. And as always, have fun!

Anime Expo 2014 Report Now Up

I've procrastinated long enough on this one. At great personal expense in the lack of sleep department, I have finally completed one of my longest reports, the one for Anime Expo 2014. In it I talk about the convention, its main events, and its triumphs and tragedies. I share news, photo, and video all done with my own personal brand of Gonzo Journalism which is not for the faint of heart, but is at least truthful...from my own perspective anyway. But why waste time? Why not head over there now and take a look? I'm sure you can find some useful tidbits in there and perhaps a bit of entertainment...or so I hope. Enjoy!

Anime Expo 2014 Report

Have I really been doing this for around 15 years? Well, aside from the year 2000, yes, yes I have. In all this time I've typically gone to this convention with the same group of people; even going so far as to increase our participation in the conventions we go to by going as press under the auspices of Dragon's Anime and TFA Cosplay. That didn't happen this year. No, this year I was on my own in regards to being press as the core group couldn't make it this year due to various factors. Still, I wasn't totally on my own, as there were others who we've known for all this time who graciously invited me to room with them this year. This worked out a lot better than I'd have thought, because even though the Vagabond Inn up the road from the convention center was more expensive than we'd wanted, they had bunk beds of all things, which were far more comfortable than the Coleman Cots we're usually used to using when we stuff ourselves into these rooms. I'll have to admit though, this year put it into perspective on just how much I've come to rely on Gensao, Pio, and Mayhem for all sorts of things little and big when it comes to covering this convention as press which caused me to miss out on a lot more than I'd have liked. This doesn't count all the other disasters outside of everyone's control that wound up occurring.

So after a few centuries of procrastination, I've finally wrangled out of Doug the Con Survival Guide he's been promising me. As an extra added bonus he included within its pages the Con on a Budget article he'd been thinking of writing as well.

Experience pro or newly thinking about hitting a convention, there's a lot of good advice in this article based on several years of experience going to these things. Give it a go; it may just save your life...or at the very least your convention experience.

This was specifically supposed to be just an article on how to attend a convention on a budget. However, there is other advice and tips that go beyond budget and touch on the realm of survival. By survival I'm not necessarily talking about saving your life...I’m talking about saving your experience. It does not take much to make a potentially good con experience go south and turn it into a nightmare due to an illness, injury, or other mishap.

Well, it appears it's the date from the strike and not the date the initial indication was logged at Youtube. Which means we have about...5 more weeks before I can upload video on Youtube again. But this will not deter us from sharing the videos of what we record, oh no. The Fanime 2013 Masquerade Torrent, in all its glory and warts...lots of Fanime technical glitches...is now available, courtesy of Nyaa Torrents. Or you can download the link below.

It's in 720p HD, so I hope you all enjoy it!

And for our first bit of drama silliness, we have my take on a movement that is ripe for so much crap that we could open up a soil building plant and get rich off the proceeds. That being this cosplay =/= consent movement and everything that's coming with it. I honestly don't have very much good to say about it, but the reasons you'll see when you check out my thoughts on it.

Due to the nature of this particular article, I must again point out, this is my point of view, and honestly on a subject I would have preferred to keep to myself. The site itself, other contributors and/or managers, are not responsible for what I have written; it's all on me. So why not get up there and check out what all the hubbub is about? It may be coming to screw up your favorite convention sooner than you think.
