ASOS Brigade! Featured

Written by

As part of the viral or gorilla marketing scheme to announce the distribution by Bandai and release of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (no homepage yet, that I can find) by Kodokawa here in the states on May 29th, there has been a live action production of something referred to as the ASOS Brigade. At present these consist of two hilarious skits in a mixture of English and Japanese language which have to seen to be believed. The scheme also includes a MySpace page for those who are into that sort of thing.

Happy viewing!

And yes, that is indeed, as she herself says, the Pink Space Ranger, Patricia Ja Lee. Now all we need is for her and Johnny Young Bosch to get a part together, just for the shear irony of it all.

The Power of Moe Featured

Written by

Whilst browsing through the internet, in this particular case the Somethingawful forums, I was pointed to a rather amusing little site known as Ecchi Attack! In particular was the article entitled "Moemania!" which is a systematic dissection of the idea of moe as presented by Ken Akamatsu, manga-ka of "Love Hina" and "Mahou-sensei Negima."

If you can pick yourselves up from laughing so hard at this, I recommend all of the other articles on the site, such as the Ludwig Wittgenstein: The Shotanization Notes...all of which redefine the category of wronger than Hell, while definitely making the point.

RoaDLM - Anime Expo 2006 Report - Part 02 Featured

Written by

Well, here we go, the final part of my trials and tribulations at 2006's Anime Expo. I hope you find it both informative and entertaining. Not to mention helpful during your journeys through this or that convention.

Should you have any questions about what I mentioned, feel free to drop by the boards and ask. Good luck, and may your next convention be as entertaining as this one was for me. CLOSED

Not Dead Yet... and I'm Here to Help?! Featured

Written by

Nope, certainly not dead yet. Holidays damn near killed us in ways that would make even the Devil go, "That's not right." Still, we've made it.

Though to start the new year, we have seen some interesting things happen. Not to mention the resurrection of someone I thought we'd never see again: A fanfic author by the name of Mark Doherty, and his insanely good Sailor Moon fic, finished after 8 f'n years of haitus, "I'm Here to Help" (note: the link takes you to the final chapter; I recommend reading from the beginning if you've not read it yet.) And believe me, I would have waited an eternity for this.

I'll see about getting the second half of the Anime Expo con report up this weekend. Almost in time for the next one, I know, heh.

Second Part of Move Complete Featured

Written by

Well, here they are, the final reviews from "Where No Anime Goes Unpunished." We have for you, Rozen Maiden Season 1, Koihime OVA 1 and 2, Maburaho, DearS, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, and Akane (DIE YOU F'D UP ANIME, DIE!)Maniax.

Yes, I'm working on my anger issues, and my therapist says I'm coming along fine. Sure he did it at gun point, but he did say it.

I'll be closing "Where No Anime Goes Unpunished" formally, after New Years. As with the others I moved from there, I won't create any threads for them, due to their ages and such, but if you, our loyal readers wish to, again, we'll be more than happy to jump in.

Enjoy!
