Seto no Hanayome Review Featured

Written by

This week it's a journey under the sea to visit Seto no Hanayome, a series with a main character that is absolutely guaranteed to wake up swimming with the fishies some day.  Mermaids, sea crabs with assault shells, and fathers who don't know when to let go of their daughters... what could possibly go wrong?  Read the review to find out, folks... don't forget your cement overshoes.  King Triton was never THIS overprotective.

Dragon's Den - Lost in Translation Featured

Written by

Yet another update this week, making it three in a single day!  After a conversation with K`thardin, I decided it was time to add a new Dragon's Den article.  The new series Claymore has been top on my mind lately, with some damned good writing, and very effective animation... but Claymore is based on a manga, and I can't help but notice some of the things that have gone missing in the transition from manga to anime.  So, I present to you Lost in Translation; a look at what an anime looses when it gains the power of speech and movement.

RoaDLM - Relationships for Fanboys: Looking out for Pitfalls Featured

Written by

Here I take a break from discussing the fandom in general to address something a little more personal and serious; that being some things a fanboy should watch out for while courting a fangirl. This may especially be important if this is the first real relationship the fanboy has been in, and could use a little advice if he feels something's just not right.

Claymore and Tokko Reviews Featured

So what do you get when you take a girl with a sword big enough to make the Rayearth characters jealous, add in a young man with the sort of balls most anime males wish they had, and throw in some critters that like to snack on humans? I'm taking a look at Claymore this week, a series that has set about answering just that question, and is doing a damned nice job of it thus far. It's a surprisingly deep take on a story that might seem, on the face of it, to have been done before, and we're only three episodes in.

News Round-Up 2007-04-14 Featured

So, I know things have been pretty slow, but there have been a few things going on. So, I'll round it up here at the end (or is that beginning?) of the week.

The Fanfiction Mailing List is now back up. It had gone down briefly due to the untimely passing of the maintainer of the Aniverse servers. For now, the new posting address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

AMV Release - Prelude to the Dark Day Featured

Written by

This video is actually my first Avatar AMV, and my third AMV all together. It's also when I found out that Anime Music Video's now screens their videos and won't let you post unless you have a confirmed anime listed. The next stop was Youtube, where it had a remarkable success. A large string of comments and a flawless 5.0 rating until Nickelodeon decided it was tired of people pirating Avatar through Youtube. Youtube's actions were quick and ruthless, and my innocent video was wiped out with the pirate ships. I'm not complaining mind you, as Nickelodeon has a right to protect its assets.

So finally, with Aquaricat's good graces, here it is: Prelude to the Dark Day, set to A.F.I.'s Prelude to 12/21
